Siddaganga Institute of Technology (SIT) was established in the year 1963 and is one among these 125 institutions. SIT is offering 13 undergraduate programmes and 12 post graduate programmes. More than 4000 students are currently pursuing their studies in the institute. 15 departments of the institute are recognized as Research Centres by Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum. 187 Research scholars are pursuing Ph.D. programme in these centres. University Grants Commission, New Delhi, Government of Karnataka and Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi have granted autonomous status to our institute from the academic year 2007-08.

The institute has experienced, qualified and devoted faculty members (about 310) and 139 of them have Ph.D. from reputed institutions like IISc, Bangalore, IIT Madras, IIT Bombay, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Guwahati and others.
